My job on set is to capture the cleanest possible dialogue and support post-production with atmosphere recordings and production sound.
This also means that project examples only partially reflect my skills, since both poor recordings and even perfect ones—if the camera wasn’t rolling—would never make it into a film.
The tricks I have to use just to make the sound workable are also never seen. It's a shame, I know.
Location sound is mostly technical in nature—but the true art lies in consistently capturing good audio in uncontrolled, chaotic, and spontaneous situations, enabling strong performances, easing the work on set, and being well-prepared according to the script.
That’s a higher standard—and it’s also my goal
